Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts
A comeback Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after that period of 2023.
Success also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.
His counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused some to wonder if his ability to perform at the elite level was over.
Yet the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to create a decider.
He saved four early opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
