It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batters to possess a record if not afforded the possibility.

Finally, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting a platform to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not come up short.

Whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort can be debated.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the test that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was removed the team required another 66 at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we are confident we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this triumph following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this tournament is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
