The carrier will offer no-cost quick onboard wifi through satellite partnership

Flyers on British Airways can soon access high-speed wifi during flights at no cost following a recent agreement involving Elon Musk's space firm.

Complimentary and Quick Internet Available to Everyone

The airline stated that the complimentary, “quick and reliable” internet offering via the satellite provider becomes offered to travelers flying economy, business, and premium cabins as of soon.

Expanded Deployment Across Various Carriers

The parent organization for the airline, the airline group, confirmed it had finalized an agreement with the satellite firm to provide connectivity services for 500-plus aircraft operated by their airlines, which also include the Irish airline, Iberia, and the low-cost airline.

Uninterrupted Connectivity starting at Gate through Landing

The airline explained that this implementation for this system was included in a seven billion pound “upgrade” plan and would offer lag-free wifi access for flyers from boarding through landing, even when they are flying across large bodies of water or remote regions.

Customers will be able to link several electronics while won't need to require a unique access code.

“Gamechanging for British Airways as well as our customers, improving the journey onboard our flights by offering passengers seamless connectivity from gate to gate.”

Current Wifi Offerings

Restricted wifi access is currently available to British Airways flyers across the majority of its planes via the .air system.

Enrollees in BA’s loyalty club are able to send messages and text-only messages onboard without paying, while passengers who want to access audio, video, or movies throughout their flight who are not flying in first class can expect to pay from £4.99 and twenty-one pounds ninety-nine per connectivity plan.

Starlink’s System

The provider uses a network of many thousands of satellites and is managed under Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

Recent Upgrades for British Airways

BA's management are focusing to revitalize operations again following a long time of cost cutting, system failures, labor disputes, plus staff cuts.

British Airways noted that use with artificial intelligence had helped the airline to achieve its on-time performance at record highs from over a decade ago.

Earnings Outlook

Recently, the carrier disclosed a increase in financial performance during the first half of the year, assisting IAG’s earnings higher.

IAG will report the results covering the quarter from July to September on Friday.

Additional Satellite Partnerships

The airline's news arrives shortly after mobile phone provider Virgin Media O2 announced it was partnering with Starlink to enhance mobile network coverage in the countryside across the United Kingdom, by allowing users to seamlessly hook up mobile devices using orbiting devices when no regular network coverage is available.
